What do I do now?
I saw the REO Speedwagon video, "One More Lonely Night," last night at a videographer's house. Nice video. I think we took 2nd place to Van Halen that year.
I hung out with Van Halen and Weird Al Yankovich that night at the VMA Video Music Awards. Alex Nepomniachy was the cinematographer. I learned a lot from him. We did a bunch of commercials and videos together.
I'm in some of those Cinesong videos. I was one of the policemen and...
Kevin Dole directed the REO Speedwagon video. I'm being notalgic because I've been working as a lighting tech for Rhino Staging this year. I like being in the movie business.
Well, Las Vegas isn't quite the movie business... but I'm working with lights again. Ahhhh.
I started taking photography seriously in 1967, when I took a photography class and have been painting with lights ever since. I miss my Spectra light meter.
I've got my screenplay, COYOTE IN A GRAVEYARD, for sale online now. I really want to make that movie. I really want to direct that movie. I really want to be in that movie... I like movies. I'm releasing a few songs from the original soundtrack at www.shaolinRECORDS.com
"Coyote In A Graveyard" (instrumcntal version)
"Coyote In A Graveyard" (theme song)
"It's Your Shadow" (radio single)
"It's Your Shadow" (instrumental version)
"Jealous Guy"
"Mother Mary"
"Other Girls"
"Out Of My Mind"
"Out Of Touch"
"She's Not Coming Home"
I wrote a book last year, MASONIC KUNG FU - BOOK 1. I'm not even going to bother writing a screenplay for it. It would be just the way I see the story when I read that book. Anyone could convert that movie to a screenplay. What a cool movie that would make. Sheesh. I need an agent.
My book, SID'S PLACE, is also available online now. The Endeavor Agency did a breakdown and wanted to sign me as a screenwriter before they were sold to William Morris Agency. I tried calling them but the agent from Endeavor went to Australia. Again, I need an agent.
Now that I'm not a Mr. Mom anymore, I can work in the movie business again. Of course, all my Hollywood buddies have moved up the ladder the past two decades.
The technology has changed since I semi-retired also. Nobody in Las Vegas uses Mole-Richardson lights anymore. I've been learning how to program the automated lights in the casinos. They are heavy!
When I worked for MTV as a Lighting Director I climbed some ladders to adjust lights in the grid, but now I'm learning real rigging and working 50' in the air. Very different.
Where do I go now? I'll keep you posted.
